Weed Control

Curly Leaf Pondweed Treatment Overview & Early Results
In May pur dedicated Green Lake Association (GLA) volunteers jumped aboard the treatment boat, working hard to combat the spread of Curly-leaf Pondweed (CLP). The map to the left highlights the specific areas where treatment was permitted and applied under the guidance of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
Our latest curly-leaf pondweed (CLP) treatment is already showing promising results. On Little Green, we focused efforts on the Green Lake Trail side and near the city dock. The results have been impressive—there is a clear, substantial difference in treated versus untreated areas.
On Big Green, the treatment was more extensive, and we’re seeing similarly strong results. These early successes are encouraging and may help make the case for a broader treatment next year. We’ll continue to monitor conditions and evaluate progress throughout the season.
South Bay Channel Treatment Overview
Lake Management Inc. completed targeted channel treatments in the South Bay of Green Lake, focusing on eight designated areas to improve navigability and reduce weed density. The treatment covered nearly 6 acres in total, with channels extending up to 3,000 feet.
Early signs indicate the work has significantly improved access in these key areas. Ongoing monitoring will help assess long-term impact and guide future efforts.
